This July 4th, instead of fireworks, we invite you to gather around stories, color, resilience, and art. Join us for the opening reception of We Are America Too / Nosotros También Somos América — a powerful exhibition that centers immigrant voices, honors our diverse journeys, and redefines what it means to belong in America.

Friday, July 4, 2025, 5 – 7 PM, Installation Space, 49 Eagle St, North Adams, MA

This exhibition features work by 23 immigrant and first-generation American artists from across the country, each interpreting the theme “We Are America Too” through expressions of migration, identity, and creative resistance. Curated by Katunemo Art & Healing, this show is a celebration, a protest, a mirror, and a welcome.

The breathtaking landscapes of farms, fields, and animals, combined with the rich opportunities for walking and hiking in New Marlborough, have ignited the inspiration for the New Marlborough Meeting House Gallery to host a themed exhibition titled Farm and Table. Twenty regional artists have been specially invited to interpret this theme through their own artistic lenses. From painting and collage to pottery, clay and wood sculpture, as well as photography and video, these twenty artists will be showcasing their distinctive works at the show. A percentage of the proceeds from all sales will go towards supporting The New Marlborough Meeting House.

This show presents recent works by artists who are working within a thirty-mile radius of New Marlborough. The rich array of works represents subjects and mediums that bears witness to the artist’s practice. The show was juried by Em Rooney and Chris Domenick: artists, residents of the Berkshires, and Professors of Photography and Sculpture at Bard College at Simon’s Rock.

LENOX, MASS. (November 9, 2018) – Kimball Farms Life Care hosted an art exhibition from December to January, with an opening reception on Sunday, Dec. 9 from 3-5 p.m. at Kimball Farms, 235 Walker St., Lenox, Massachusetts.

The exhibition was on display from Dec. 9 through January 6, 2019. Four Berkshire artists – Rosemary Starace, Dai Ban and Charles Schweigart, and Elmer Orobio - displayed their work in the exhibition called Berkshiresx4: Contemporary Art by Dai Ban, Charles Schweigert, Rosemary Starace, and Elmer Orobio.

The reception included light refreshments and music while guests will have an opportunity to meet the artists. Their works include mixed media and sculpture.

About Me

I am a Father, Artist & Teacher

I was born and raised in Colombia, where I received a law degree from the Universidad Santiago de Cali

I began teaching at a public school and felt uninspired. Seeing this, a friend introduced me to a new Waldorf initiative nearby and I was instantly captivated by it. I enrolled in a teacher training at the Rudolf Steiner Seminary in São Paulo, Brazil and went on to teach at the Waldorf School in Cali, Colombia.

In 1999 my family and I came to live in the United States where I have been teaching woodwork and clay modeling at the Great Barrington Rudolf Steiner School. In 2009, I began working on my own sculptures alongside my students, who were working on their own woodwork projects. This way, the children are exposed to an artist in action, and as a result, each piece that I make is infused with their spirit.

"Sheffield artist Elmer Orobio combines unusual pieces of wood with other materials to create composite sculptures. His process begins with a piece of wood he might find in a local lumber yard or along the road after a storm. He spends time studying the properties of the wood and then begins to apply his talent and creativity to the development of a piece of art. This could involve cutting, sanding, carving, or even painting as his sculpture evolves. As an image begins to emerge, he selects other materials to enhance the piece. He might add other bits of wood or small shells, bones, or stones found locally. His approach is organic: Free and fluid without any preconceived design"
